Civil Liberties

Civil liberties refer to the individual and collective freedoms that are formally recognized by the Iranian government because they are guaranteed in international conventions to which Iran is a signatory, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, or enshrined in the Iranian Constitution. They include the freedoms of expression and assembly, and the right to participate in the political and cultural life of one’s community.
