Infographic: Accountable vs. non-accountable to the parliament oversee

Every year, a large portion of Iran's national budget is allocated to government agencies that are not responsible to the parliament or other elected bodies. This means that those agencies, in effect, work without any public oversight. The interactive infographic below provides a comparison of the budgets of several of these government bodies that are not accountable to the parliament to the budgets of four agencies that are accountable to the parliament. All budget figures are in million Rials. To see the name and 2018 budget of each organization, hover your mouse cursor over the respective circle.

Lacking accountability to citizens' representatives in the parliament means that no one can examine or question the performance or activities of these organizations. Find the full text of 2018 budget bill via this link (Farsi).
