International Workers' Day
In 1979, Iranian workers participated in the strikes and demonstrations that toppled the Shah and brought the Islamic Republic to power. Today, 35 years later, Iranian workers are beset by rampant unemployment, a high cost of living, inflation, and the daily challenges brought about by poor economic policies and the effects of international sanctions. Their contributions are fundamental to Iran’s prosperity, but how can Iranian workers enjoy the rights promised to them by the government and guaranteed by Iranian law?
